What the coaching agreement covers

Coaching is a thinking partnership. It is not therapy, medical treatment, counselling, legal advice, financial advice or consulting, and it is not a substitute for any of them. Decisions and actions arising from a session are yours, and so are their results. No outcome is promised, because none can honestly be.

Sessions run one hour on video, usually every two or three weeks. Engagements are typically agreed as a run of five or six sessions and reviewed at the end of that run. Fees are agreed in writing before the first paid session. Payment for a block is due before the first session of that block unless we agree instalments in writing. Invoices are issued for every payment and taxes are charged where they apply.

Sessions moved with more than twenty four hours of notice are rescheduled at no cost. Inside that window the session is charged. Unused sessions in a block expire six months after the block starts.

What you say stays between us, with two exceptions. If I have reason to believe someone is at serious risk of harm, I may need to act on it. If a court or a regulator requires disclosure, I have to comply. In organisational engagements the sponsor receives themes agreed with the people being coached, never a record of an individual session.

Either of us can end the engagement at any point, in writing. Sessions already held are payable. Sessions paid for and not held are refunded, less any that fall inside the cancellation window. If I believe the work belongs with a therapist or another professional, I will say so and end the coaching engagement rather than continue past what it can do.

I work to the International Coaching Federation code of ethics. I trained with Erickson Coaching International and am building toward the ICF ACC credential, which I do not hold yet. If a complaint cannot be settled between us, it is heard under Indian law in the courts of Hyderabad.
